CRS Rice Bowl Lent 2025 Week #5
One ʻOhana: United by the Eucharist, Called to Feed the World
In Week 5 of the 2025 CRS Rice Bowl Stories of Hope,we are reminded that we are One ʻOhana—one global family—united through the Eucharist and called to care for each other, especially those who are hungry. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Rice Bowl shares stories of hope from around the world, showing how our prayers, fasting, and almsgiving nourish not just our spirits, but the lives of others.
From the drought-stricken Sahel in 1976 to today’s growing food insecurity, our response as a faith community has been rooted in compassion and unity. When we give to CRS, we live out the call to love and feed our neighbors, near and far. Together, as one ʻohana, we can help ensure every table is filled—with food, dignity, and hope.
This Lent, Catholics are encouraged to participate in the three pillars of the season: almsgiving, fasting, and prayer.
-
Give to support CRS Rice Bowl programs that combat hunger and poverty worldwide.
-
Fast in solidarity with those who experience daily hunger.
-
Pray for vulnerable families like Ana’s, and for a world where all are fed and cared for.
CRS Rice Bowl is the Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services, inviting U.S. Catholics to live in solidarity with our sisters and brothers around the world through simple, sacrificial meals and powerful stories of hope.
