CRS Rice Bowl Lent 2026 Week #3

Third Week of Lent Reflection: Nourishing Hope

During this Third Week of Lent, the CRS Rice Bowl invites us to journey in solidarity with families in Guatemala, where mothers are learning how better nutrition can help their children grow strong and healthy.

In many communities, poverty and limited access to nutritious food make it difficult for families to provide balanced meals. Through programs supported by Catholic Relief Services, mothers receive practical guidance on healthy eating, vitamins, and nutrition for their children. With this knowledge, families are strengthening their health and building a brighter future for the next generation.

One mother, Maribel, shares how these lessons have transformed her family’s daily life. By learning about healthy foods and the importance of saving resources, her household has been able to improve both their nutrition and their financial stability.

The story reminds us that even small changes—learning about balanced meals, sharing knowledge with neighbors, and supporting one another in community—can create lasting hope.

During Lent, the Church calls us to practice prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Through CRS Rice Bowl, our sacrifices become acts of solidarity with families around the world who strive each day to nourish their children and build healthier lives.

As we continue our Lenten journey, this story invites us to reflect on how God calls us to care for one another—ensuring that every child has the nourishment needed to grow, learn, and thrive.
