RESILIENCE IN PREPARING FOR NATURAL DISASTERS

This week’s story of hope features a female farmer on Flores Island where unpredictable storms and dry spells make it difficult to grow food. After Evita Tiro Wada participated in a Catholic Relief Services’ program, she learned special farming methods to grow vegetables even during a drought. Now she teaches others how to start their own gardens and care for their community by picking up trash and planting trees. She also joined a disaster preparedness group, which helps people stay safe during emergencies.
